The second winter school “European Union and relations between Russia and the European Union today”

The second winter school “European Union and relations between Russia and the European Union today” was organized In February 2017 on the basis of St. Petersburg State University and was announced as part of the programme of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the AES. The main students of the school were representatives of the city administration and municipal bodies, as well as members of non-governmental organizations, university professors and business people. The school was also attended by representatives of the Altai Region and Arkhangelsk.

This school provides information and methodological support to researchers regarding the issues of the European Union. According to the associate professor of St. Petersburg State University T.A. Romanova, “this is a kind of analytical expert educational program aimed at understanding and trying to present different points of view on the most problematic issues of European integration and relations between Russia and the European Union.”

During the work of winter school, students attended lectures on the development of the European Union, on security, terrorist and immigration threats. During school classes, the topics of populism in the decision-making process, lobbying and how they manifest themselves in European integration, as well as the problems of cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the common neighborhood region were touched upon. Lectures were given by associate professors of St. Petersburg State University T.A. Romanova, D.A. Levy, N.G. Zaslavskaya and A.V. Izotov.

At the end of the winter school, all students received certificates.
